Make // Sunglasses T-Shirts

My boys are almost seven and almost five. They sorta care about what they wear, but... not really. Their fashion sense became noticeably worse when they started wearing school uniforms. In fact, one day I asked the almost seven year old to change and he came down with his brother's red athletic pants (only 5 inches too short) and a green stripe button down shirt... N-I-C-E!

So Mama had to do a fashion intervention. I bought him some trendy jeans (um, not pictured below... those are his grass stained uniform pants. slight oversight on my part) and made him this cool, on-trend, age appropriate t-shirt. I'm mean... look how happy the kid looks. All dancin' and posin' and stuff.  And I didn't even have to shell out the big bucks.

materials needed:
cotton t-shirt ($3 on sale at Joanns)
SEI sunglasses iron-on art (available at Hobby Lobby)
iron
scissors

This is a quick and easy project. Just follow the instructions on the packaging!

First, prewash the t-shirt and air dry.

Lay the shirt on a hard, flat surface. Cut out the sunglasses of your choice and position it on the shirt.

Lay it face-down (paper backing side up) and iron it with DRY iron set to 350 F (cotton or linen setting on most irons). Press Firmly for 15-20 seconds and let cool for 1 minute.

Slowly peel back the paper backing.

Then turn the shirt inside out and iron the design on the reverse side with Firm Pressure for 10-15 seconds.

That's it! A quick and easy project that has the boys' stamp of approval. I really like that this iron-on is flocked and has a soft, velvet-like texture... nothing vinyl or plastic about it.

Here's the "top gun" shirt that I made for the almost five year old. He wasn't up for modeling so a hanger on the door will have to do.  :)
