He's Got The Whole World, In His Room...

Well, hopefully not the WHOLE world... it's a small room {giggle}.

Happy Vee doesn't know it yet, but he suffers from 2nd child syndrome. The little guy has pretty much lived in hand-me-downs since Day 1, including the gender-neutral nursery decor that he "inherited" from Smarty Pants.  Since we recently moved, I decided not to recreate the "old" nursery and thought I'd slowly transition his room into a Big Boy Room.  We're not ready to give the crib up (no way!), but at least I can start creating a special room just for him.

My inspiration?  Globes and Maps.  It's not only a theme that can grow with him, but also serves as a connection to our many relatives who come from such farflung places as India, Beijing, Canada, Hong Kong, Hawaii, London, Japan, Australia, California and Okinawa. And maybe, just maybe, the travel bug will rub off on him too. I'm also kind of happy that I will have a place to put all the little trinkets that we have collected from our overseas travels!

So here's where I'm at thus far...

And here are some beautiful rooms and ideas that inspire:

I'm not going to do a map mural in Happy Vee's room, but this bright and clean look caught my eye.

Absolutely LOVE this canvas artwork!

I believe this is an old fashioned school map that scrolls up.

I love the pop of color that globes bring to a room.

I'm on the lookout for some relatively cheap wall clocks.

As you can probably tell, I could go on and on.  We're still straightening out a few other rooms, but I can't wait to get to work on his "Around the World" room.  Hopefully soon!
