[Upcycle] Update a Trivet with Paint

I have a 2003-esque trivet that looks similar to this--

yeah, i forgot to take a "before" pic... but you get the idea, right?

This does not fit into my 2012 decor plans.  What to do?

First: 

Hit it up with some white spray paint

 Second:
Liven it up with some metallic paint

i blended 2 metallic paints together to get just the right shade of mother-of-pearl silvery gold

i lightly sponged on a thin coat...

then added a little more dark silver and worked it in with a sponge...

brings out the definition of the stone beautifully.

and here it is in our bedroom shelf...which is still a work in progress. 

i need a few more pieces to complete the look.

Alright, back to reorganizing our kitchen pantry.  I have the New-Year-organization-bug, so I better run with it while it lasts.  :)
