[Make] Felt Gift Card Holders

For the first time, I'm giving several gift cards as Christmas presents. It feels like I'm "cheating" on my gift buying duties, but somehow I think the recipients (mostly teenagers) will be pretty darn happy to pick out their own doodads! Since presentation is important to me, I knew I wouldn't be happy just giving away cards in envelopes.  So today, I created these easy felt gift card holders.

what you'll need:
craft felt
embroidery needle
embroidery thread (i used thin baker's twine)
sewing needle & thread (for button)
button
scissors

cut felt into a strip-- 12 inches by 3.5 inches
fold leaving at least 3 inches for the top flap

do a running stitch around the border

fold in half and cut the flap at an angle

add a tie & button

You can leave it at that...

Or you can finish it off with a poinsettia flower...
see [here] for the poinsettia tutorial

How are you doing on the present buying & wrapping front??  I still have a few more presents to buy so I'm hitting the stores today... Wish me luck!
